We have spent a lot of time checking out the numerous hotel-booking websites for the UK market, and we are convinced we have identified those which consistently offer the cheapest price for a given rating of hotel.

If you have hours to spare to scour the internet yourself then it is possible that you will find a marginally better deal, but we also believe that in the majority of cases you will fail to do so.

In our view, if you just check the sites listed the odds are you’ll find the best deal available.

LateRooms.com has an excellent range of UK hotels and, in our opinion, one of the easiest to use and helpful hotel-booking search engines in the business. As their name suggests, they are particularly good for booking UK hotels at short notice, just a few weeks ahead, when you can frequently snap up a real bargain. However, their market leading presentation of hotels matching your search criteria also allows you to see easily whether booking a day earlier or later will actually allow you to save even more money on their terrific rates. They specialise not only in UK Hotels, but also Hotels around the World.

Hotels.com is another favourite of ours. They have an excellent selection of hotels across the UK, and again have market-leading prices. As well as UK Hotels, they also have thousands of Hotels Worldwide.

Travelodge.co.uk is another company we regular feature on this blog, although they are obviously a hotel chain which just features their own Travel Lodges. If you are looking for standard 3* accommodation at a great price then you really will struggle to match those from Travelodge when they are running one of their £9, £19 or £29 room promotions (which to be honest, is nearly all of the time nowadays!). These low room rates are non-cancellable and non-refundable, so only useful if you know you won’t have to change your plans, and do usually have to be booked 18 days in advance (£19 rooms) or 7 days in advance (£29 rooms). If you have to book with less than 7 days notice or need more flexibility, then we do recommend you check the prices of other hotels too using the other sites listed here.

4* Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa (Whitchurch, Cheshire/Shropshire Border) – set amidst 300 acres of beautiful countryside this is the perfect place to pamper your Mum in the hotel’s recently opened new Vital Health & well being club plus Spa facility, featuring 20 metre swimming pool, Techno gym, sauna, steam room, experience shower, beauty rooms, relaxation room and nail bar. £88 for double or triple rooms, including breakfast.

Rooms in Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon at Up to 70% Discount

Warwickshire is a beautiful county, and no visit there is complete without a stay in Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon. One look at the selection of Stratford-Upon-Avon hotels on LateRooms, and you can see there are many bargains to be found.
