Question: Is it safe to drive from kenya to ethiopia?

If you are in the mood for some 'survivor-like' adventure you can drive; the road is not that good on the kenyan side and may take 24 hrs from Nairobi to Moyale at the border. I would advice you fly from Nairobi to Addis.

Fly. The only problem with driving is you will have a lot of problems at the border. Also there is the threat of Al Shabbab-a Somali terrorist group. Or go through Uganda, Tanzania. Stay safe. A bus is safest than driving because you dont know the area very well. But the wonderful thing about Kenya is if you are a tourist they will help you. So when you reach around the border or a remote town, ask the police to escort you. Then you will be safe. The only problem is those Somali terrorists

I have a friend from Moyale who says there are shuttles that go to ethiopia from the moyale border and he has gone to addis abbaba from there quite a number of times and its perfectly safe. I am yet to do this some time soon. and i really trust my sources. but on the contrary there are the insecurity stories from many other people and its pretty cheap to fly so better safe than sorry. I would only do this in the company of guys familiar with the route who know what to look out for, when to stop and so on. so make your decision. If you decide on a road trip let me know how it goes as am also very keen cheeers

It's not very safe to drive from Kenya to Ethiopia as some parts of the journey are bandits infested.Nairobi to Isiolo town is 100% safe but from there towards Moyale, you will need police escort so you have to wait other travelers on the same route so that you can move in a convoy with police escort.
